While working for Stevenson University on Tuesday night at their Baltimore Speaker Series event I had the honor of working with Gloria Marie Steinem, American feminist, journalist, and political activist who paved the way for social equality for women starting back in the 1960's. As a man who has been blessed to have a wonderful mother, sister, wife and now daughter, I am thankful for her work to create more opportunities for the ladies I love most in my life. The struggle for women is far from over but I'm thankful to have met so many women in my career who have aspired to greatness and I have high hopes for my daughter's future because of Gloria's life mission. If you are looking for a thought provoking and inspiring experience and have never been to a Baltimore Speakers Series event you are missing out. Learn more at the link below.

Talk about an energetic and exciting community event to benefit so many great causes! I had a blast with team BGE last Saturday September 8th to photograph all the fun and excitement while they participated in this year's Catholic Charities Dragon Boat Race at the Baltimore Inner Harbor. A bit of rain posed some challenges but there were so many dramatic moments to document and share. I only wish I didn't have to wait two years for the next race! I spent the first 19 years of my photography career on staff at The Daily Record newspaper. I can't thank them enough for all the amazing experiences and connections they afforded me before going out on my own to take my freelance business to the next level. Last night I reunited with them to document the smiles and sense of community at the 2018 VIP List award event. Here are a few of the moments shared between the honorees and guests at Gertrudes Restaurant at the BMA. Click here for more information about The Daily Record's VIP List Awards
In early August I received a call from BGE communications about photographing a practice of their dragon boat team for the upcoming issue of Energized! magazine. More specifically, I was there to capture "Admiral Al", the team captain for the past 20 years, in action for the cover story. He had to be the toughest 60 year old I'd ever seen still holding a paddle. I was teamed up with videographer David Hercenberg to document the practice and we were told they were going to find a boat for us to shoot from. It turned out to be a 40 foot Cigarette boat pumping about 1500hp, which was a bit overkill but it beat shooting from the dock. For about a half hour our captain maneuvered us around the team so we could shoot from different angles as they paddled up and down a cove near canton. After a few passes I had grabbed the shot of Al that I was looking for before heading back to the marina to get a few team photos and portraits in front of the skyline. The communications team at BGE must have been impressed because they hired me to shoot the big race on September 8th at the Baltimore inner harbor to benefit Catholic Charities. If you are attending I hope to see you there! She called me up looking to take some portraits for her law firm website and also for her Beachbody fitness coach page. The firm photos were the priority but we decided do some fitness shots at the same time. We started at her soon-to-be office which was clear of furniture and was painted to match her website. Then we shot a few more out on the grounds of the Manor Tavern in Monkton, MD. I used a mix of Nikon strobes and a ring-light for the studio shots and some reflectors for the location portraits. I've been photographing attorneys for years but I must say this shoot was one for books. I can't wait to see how the website turns out Wendy! Max For the second year in a row, I've had the honor of photographing some of the bravest young survivors to walk out of the University of Maryland Children's Hospital for their annual 'Dreams' campaign. Working with these inspiring kids is one of the highlights of my year and I can't wait for them to see themselves acting out their dreams on billboards and buses all over Baltimore. Special thanks to the talented marketing and design team at UM for giving me this amazing opportunity!
